Ibukun Abejirinde
Ibukun Abejirinde (MD, PhD) is a Scientist at the Institute for Better Health, Trillium Health Partners where she leads a research program focused on translating health equity at a systems level, working collaboratively with policymakers, patients, community organizations, and researchers to improve access to quality care for traditionally excluded groups. She is an Assistant Professor (Affiliated Scientist, Status) at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and an Adjunct Scientist at Women’s College Hospital Research Institute. She led the development of Canada’s first pan-Canadian digital health evaluation framework and has several active research projects focusing on community health, digital health and learning health systems. Dr. Abejirinde is a 2022 AMS Healthcare Fellow in Compassion and AI and a 2023 recipient of the TRANSFORM HF Collaboration Starter Grant. She co-leads the digital health equity hub of the International Collaborative for Translational Digital Health and is a Network Solution Member on the AI for Diabetes Prediction & Prevention project which aims to ethically deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) models for the prediction and prevention of Type 2 Diabetes in Peel Region, Ontario.
