The Frantz Fanon 100th Year Anniversary Symposium – OISE
2025 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Frantz Fanon (25th July 1925 in Martinique), a psychiatrist, philosopher, and revolutionary activist. Frantz Fanon died from leukemia in Bethesda, Maryland on December 6th, 1961, at the age of 36.
Fanon’s work has had a significant impact on Post Colonial Theory, Black Studies, French Studies, Cultural Studies, Critical Race Theory, and liberation movements around the world. His books Black Skin White Masks, A Dying Colonialism, The Wretched of the Earth are foundational for those who continue to devote their lives to anti-colonial struggles around the world.
