Event Overlay

Researchers in the humanities and social sciences, are you wondering how you can better include student training in your funding applications?

As projects become more complex, as a PI you might be looking for some inspiration for the range of roles that students can play for a funded research project. This workshop presents the possibilities for student research assistants and features a roundtable discussion with other faculty PIs who have found innovative, creative and meaningful ways to include RAs to bring their projects from an idea into reality.

With faculty guest speakers:

  • Max Mishler (Department of History)
  • Sonja Nikkila (Department of English, UTSC)
  • Karina Vernon (Department of English, UTSC)

Learning outcomes

At the end of this workshop, you will have a greater understanding of:

  • The full range of roles RAs can play in your project, particularly for Knowledge Mobilization
  • How to create meaningful opportunities for student professional development and mentorship
  • How to nurture an inclusive, multidisciplinary and intergenerational community of researchers
