A Celebration of Black History Through Music – Faculty of Music

U of T Gospel Choir Event Overlay

Enjoy a Black History Month Concert featuring the University of Toronto Faculty of Music Gospel Choir, the University of Toronto West African Drumming and Dance Ensemble and special guest, JUNO Award-winning gospel recording artist Sharon Riley.

Join students from the Faculty of Music and the Toronto School of Theology as they take the audience on a musical journey with performances of African-American spirituals as well as traditional and contemporary gospel music pieces, accompanied by a dynamic gospel rhythm section.

This concert will also feature the world premiere of an original gospel composition by Professor Darren Hamilton and University of Toronto DMA composition student, Aaron Manswell. The Canadian premiere of an arrangement of “Lift Everyone Voice and Sing” by Professor Brandon Felder (Bowie State University, USA), will also be featured.
