Centre for the Study of the United States Research Fellowship

Opportunity Overlay

The Centre for the Study of the United States (CSUS) at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy has opened applications for its CSUS Research Fellowship.

Valued at $15,000, the CSUS Research Fellowship is open to current Professors at any level (in both research and teaching streams) and Lecturers/CLTAs with continuing appointments at the University of Toronto.

Applicants’ research must relate to the 2026–2027 CSUS academic theme:

“Breaking Point? Continuity and Rupture in U.S. Governance”

This theme takes up a central debate in American studies: do the conditions defining American life today represent a critical rupture in U.S. political culture and its global role, or a more extreme continuation of already-underway trajectories? The Research Fellow will collaborate with the CSUS administrator to organize a significant workshop connected to both their own research and this annual theme.

Applications must include:

  1. A current CV
  2. A brief description of current research interests (~500 words)
  3. A description of a proposed public research event, including a tentative budget

All materials should be submitted as a single PDF.
