2024 Career Awards – Canadian Black Scientists Network

Opportunity Overlay

Recognize a colleague, peer, or organization for their positive impact on Black success in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine or Health (STEMM) by nominating them for a Career Award from the Canadian Black Scientists Network (CBSN).

The CBSN was founded in 2020 to elevate, make visible, celebrate and connect Black Canadians in STEMM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine and Health). With over 800 members from across the country, the network has national recognition as the only multidisciplinary organization promoting Black inclusion and success across STEMM fields, from school aged learners to professionals in research, innovation, entrepreneurship and applied sectors.

The CBSN has three career awards that recognize substantive, sustained contributions by individuals or organizations who have had a significant positive impact on the lives of Black STEMM aspirants and professionals in Canada. These awards are only presented in years when a particularly meritorious candidate is nominated. This year’s Awardees will be invited to attend the Black Excellence in STEMM 2024 (BE-STEMM 2024) national conference to receive their award at an Emancipation Day ceremony (August 1, 2024) with special guests including the Rt. Hon. Michaëlle Jean, and MP Arielle Kayabaga, co-chair of the Black Parliamentary Caucus.

Nominations must be completed and submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024 using the online nomination form.
