The Frantz Fanon 100th Year Anniversary Symposium – OISE

2025 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Frantz Fanon (25th July 1925 in Martinique), a psychiatrist, philosopher, and revolutionary activist. Frantz Fanon died from leukemia in Bethesda, Maryland on December 6th, 1961, at the age of 36.

Fanon’s work has had a significant impact on Post Colonial Theory, Black Studies, French Studies, Cultural Studies, Critical Race Theory, and liberation movements around the world. His books Black Skin White MasksA Dying ColonialismThe Wretched of the Earth are foundational for those who continue to devote their lives to anti-colonial struggles around the world.
