Physiology & Black Health Symposium
The Physiology & Black Health Symposium will be centred in the theme, “Representation and finding your pathway.”
Hosted by the Department of Physiology at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, the day will include a keynote address, panelist talks, a trainee lunch with the speakers, a Q&A session and trainee flash talks.
This year’s symposium features Black scholars who will speak to the importance of representation in research, teaching, and other professional pursuits in the health sciences. The event will also address the lived experiences of international students within the theme of representation.
The 2026 symposium is open to all learners in the Temerty Medicine ecosystem, those at the University of Toronto more broadly, and at other universities in Ontario. The scope of discussions and talks will cover topics in research, teaching and health that span the four platforms within the Department of Physiology: Cardiovascular and Respiratory; Endocrine and Diabetes; Reproduction and Development; and Neuroscience.
