Mass forced eviction & global housing discrimination: Humanistic approaches

Event Overlay

This symposium will explore humanistic approaches to addressing mass forced eviction and global housing discrimination.

Topics include rights-based frameworks—such as the right to adequate housing, the right to the city, inclusiveness, capability building and empowerment—as well as other related strategies.

Participants will also engage in an epistemological reflection on how to humanize the language, terms and concepts used by scholars and specialists in this field. The symposium will highlight the impacts of mass forced evictions and displacement, with particular attention to their ongoing effects on Indigenous communities.

This event is co-sponsored by the Black Research Network, along with the School of Cites and The Housing Justice Lab.
