BRN Academic Practice Lab: Navigating Workload, Well-Being and Research Momentum
The Black Research Network’s Academic Practice Lab helps researchers build practical skills, access key funding insights and explore success in diverse academic pathways.
This session is open to faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students at the University of Toronto who identify as racialized, Black or Indigenous.
Topic: Navigating Workload, Well-Being and Research Momentum
Academic work often involves balancing competing demands, including teaching, service, administration, research, mentoring and personal responsibilities. But how can we balance it all in a way that is sustainable?
This interactive workshop explores practical strategies for managing workloads while protecting well-being and maintaining meaningful progress on research and creative projects.
Participants will reflect on their current commitments, identify common obstacles to research momentum and develop realistic approaches to prioritization, boundary-setting and sustainable productivity. The session emphasizes working more effectively rather than working more, with attention to self-care, self-compassion and long-term career sustainability.
This event will take place virtually. Please register to attend.
Note: This session will not be recorded.
