Black History Month Block Party

Event Overlay

Join Black@UTM for the inaugural Black at UTM Block Party within the future home of the Centre for Black Excellence and Belonging (CBEB).

This year’s celebration at UTM spotlights the emerging Centre for Black Excellence and Belonging (CBEB), the future home of Black creativity, belonging, and academic success for Black, African, Afro-Caribbean, and Afro-Indigenous students, as well as the wider UTM community.

While we await the completion of this transformative space, the Block Party brings its spirit to life. The event raises awareness of the project and honours the people, artistry, and ongoing work shaping Black flourishing at UTM.

Expect a day rooted in connection and joy with:

  • Opportunities to hear from artists, leaders, architects, and community members about the vision for CBEB and the future of Black flourishing at UTM,
  • An aromatic and spiritually uplifting Ethiopian/Eritrean (Boon) coffee ceremony to break bread and build community,
  • Black‑curated art from campus creators, local student artists, and alumni,
  • Crafts, entertainment, and conversations that celebrate our shared accomplishments.

All are welcome.

Drop in, stay awhile, and be part of this collective celebration of Black history, presence, and possibility.
