2025 JHI SSHRC Grant Writing Bootcamp – Jackman Humanities Institute

Event Overlay

Are you planning to apply for a SSHRC Insight Grant or Insight Development Grant in an upcoming competition? Do you feel daunted by the SSHRC grant writing process?

Join the Jackman Humanities Institute for an eight-week intensive bootcamp, which is designed to help you prepare a winning grant application that advances your research program in exciting ways. The bootcamp focuses on the three main components of any SSHRC funding application: the Detailed Description, the Knowledge Mobilization plan, and the Budget.

  • Practical Exercises: Engage in writing exercises and other activities designed to prompt creative thinking around your draft
  • Peer Review: Receive valuable feedback from your colleagues in the final Peer Review session

The sessions are divided into:

  • Faculty speaker sessions featuring recent SSHRC grant recipients who will discuss and demonstrate their successful applications
  • In-depth guidance and information sessions from Divisional Research Officers who will provide tips and best practices
  • Co-working blocks (optional) featuring writing sprints, visualization strategies and dedicated writing time

The program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 3 to July 22, 2025. Participation in the bootcamp requires attendance at all of the Tuesday sessions.

The deadline for registration is May 12, 2025 at 4 pm (ET).
